Lehtovaara 95 years
Restaurant Lehtovaara is one of the most traditional restaurants in Helsinki. It was founded by master baker Emil Lehtovaara in 1916 in Viipuri, a former Finnish city now in Russian territory. Mr Lehtovaara sold the restaurant to Ragnar Hansson, who in 1940, during the war, moved the restaurant to Helsinki. Ever since then the restaurant has been located in the same place in Töölö, close by the Sibelius Monument.
Throughout the decades Lehtovaara has been famous for its high quality Finnish and International kitchen. Restaurant Lehtovaara has received several acknowledgements, e.g. The Restaurant of the Year 1991 (The Finnish Gastronomic Association), The Best Steak in Town 1996 (City magazine) and Rôtisseur shield restaurant 2002.
The winelist is among the best in the country. It consists of top quality wines from different regions and grapes. There are also interesting specialities among the over 100 different titles on the wine list.
Lehtovaara is known for its warm atmosphere, friendly and appreciative service and delicious portions favouring the gustatory nerves. The restaurant has seats for 120 guests. Especially popular is the glass-terrace which is open throughout the year.
